This is the story of three generations of women in one family, attending the Presidential Inauguration to be a part of history...together. We are nineteen southern girls, ages 12 to 77, all part of the Heard family from Heard County, Georgia documenting our thoughts, excitement and experiences.
Our family has a deep roots running through the Democratic party and is thrilled about our President Elect, Barack Obama. Even before election day, some of the women decided that it wasn't enough to witness history on television but that we must be a part of it. Mothers and grandmothers decided that their daughters and granddaughters should be able to tell their children about the week they spent ushering in an era of change for our country.
The trip went from being a hope in our hearts to a reality that we can't wait to experience. Because this is an historic event for these women, our family and our country, we wanted to document the planning process, our individual stories, and our collective awareness and appreciation of this unique opportunity for our family.
This blog will be our tool to gather those thoughts and feelings into one cohesive story...enjoy the ride!
