Grace and I have just returned from a mission trip to Kenya. The trip was wonderful and an incredible learning experience. I could go on and on about the trip but will save that for the ride to D.C. One thing I want to share now was the real excitement the Kenyans expressed to us about Obama'a election. As we walked through the slum area where we worked the first couple of days, we heard Obama's name many times. We heard "Yes, we can!" and "A change you can believe in". I impressed a few by telling them that Grace and I would be in Washington when Obama is sworn in. We saw many Obama/Biden bumper stickers on cars and a huge billboard with Obama's picture and the caption "Our man in the White House". Grace and I both were reminded of how much Obama's election as president of the U.S. means to the world. The hope his election gives these wonderful people was evident and that was moving for Grace and me to see.
On a totally different note: I have done the Moonlight Monument tour and it is wonderful. We do stop at the major monuments (not the Washington). The Jefferson and the Lincoln are magnificent at night! We should go to the Lincoln during the day to read/view the downstairs library about civil rights.
